Marie DeNaugel I have been in juvenile detention 17 times between the ages of 15-17. Teen Challenge Northern California / Nevada - My name is Marie DeNaugel and I am 20 years old. I grew up as an only child. My mom had a learning disability and my father worked all the time. I basically raised myself and my mother. I became out of control at age 12 using drugs, alcohol, and having bad relationships which led me in and out of jail. I have been in juvenile detention 17 times between the ages of 15-17. About 2 years ago, I got in some trouble for selling Marijuana; at that time I was 6 months pregnant. I was headed for prison but God had a different plan for me and allowed me to live with my cousin who took me to church. The Pastor gave me the book "The Cross and the Switchblade." That book gave me the incentive to go to Teen Challenge. I thank God that I am able to be in the Women and Children's Program with my 2 year-old daughter, Justice. I can now be the mom God intended me to be. I have been sober for almost a year. I am beginning to know my father and mother. I can sleep at night knowing that I am safe. Teen Challenge is the hardest thing I have done but the best thing. When things get hard, there is a Scripture I hold onto: Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
